Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, and DHL Express have partnered to significantly decrease greenhouse gas emissions from air freight of specialized medicines produced in Ireland. Alexion is the first in Ireland to fully transition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which can reduce emissions by over 80% compared to conventional aviation fuel. This initiative, part of DHL’s GoGreen Plus service, aligns with both companies’ sustainability goals, including Alexion’s aim for net zero emissions by 2045 and DHL’s target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Medicines will be transported to 19 European countries under this greener initiative.
