The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has expressed its support for the recent decision by the Secretary of State for Transport to grant development consent for the Lower Thames Crossing. BIFA director Steve Parker highlighted the project’s significance in alleviating congestion at the Dartford Crossing, a concern raised since 2009. Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and may be completed by 2032, which is welcomed by BIFA members who manage a substantial portion of the UK’s trade, as transit delays can harm their reputations and lead to financial losses.
