President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. is close to finalizing a trade agreement with South Korea, which includes lowering tariffs on South Korean imports from 25% to 15%. During a dinner with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, they discussed this deal alongside national security matters. While no official documents have been released, reports suggest that the agreement builds on a framework proposed in July, which also involves a $350 billion investment from South Korea into the U.S. Trump’s upcoming meetings at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit will include discussions with China’s President Xi Jinping regarding a potential trade pact.
