Silk Way Group, an Azerbaijani private aviation and logistics company, has partnered with global air services provider dnata to create a joint venture for ground handling and cargo operations at the upcoming Alat International Airport in Baku. Set to commence operations with the new terminal in April 2027, this venture aims to utilize dnata’s global expertise and Silk Way’s local presence. The airport is anticipated to manage over 400,000 tonnes of cargo annually, with plans for future service expansions. Additionally, the initiative is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs and enhance skills in Azerbaijan’s aviation sector.
